HK Express Launched Phu Quoc Route on 6 December

As Hong Kong’s only low-cost airline, HK Express Airways (HK Express) is delighted to announce that our new route connecting Hong Kong and Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) in Vietnam officially takes off today (6 December 2024). This marks the tenth destination to our Southeast Asia route network, further solidifying its leading position in the region!

“Located in Vietnam and as a member of the Belt and Road Initiative, Phu Quoc is an ideal choice when it comes to route expansion. This move perfectly aligns with the call by the HKSAR Government for airlines to enhance international connectivity with new destinations, particularly in the Belt and Road countries,” said HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao. “As Hong Kong’s only low-cost carrier, we are committed to fully support the city’s role as an international aviation hub. Over the past 10 months from January to October this year, our flight numbers have surged by over 50%, accomplishing 1.6 times that of 2019, and we expect it to exceed 1.8 times by the end of year. With today’s inaugural flight to Phu Quoc and last month’s launch of the Penang route, our Southeast Asia network now includes ten cities in total. We shall continue to expand our network, enabling our customers to fly affordably and explore captivating places while strengthening connections with other cities, all in the spirit of ‘Gotta Go’.

“The Central Government resumed the multiple-entry Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) for Shenzhen permanent residents and implemented a new arrangement to expand the multiple-entry IVS to Shenzhen residence permit holders on 1 December. This is expected to attract more mainland travellers to Hong Kong, who can then take HK Express flights to explore our 30+ Asian destinations”, Jeanette added. While Phu Quoc is currently the only visa-free region in Vietnam for foreigners^*, we believe it will become one of our popular travel destinations.
