HK Express has relocated its check-in and bag drop services to Terminal 2 (T2) Aisle U. All HK Express check-in and bag drop services previously located at the Terminal 1 have ceased operations.

All HK Express flights arriving in Hong Kong will continue to use Terminal 1. Immigration, customs, baggage claim, and arrival hall procedures remain unchanged. Passengers can collect their baggage, meet friends and family, and access ground transport at Terminal 1 as usual. Arrangements for passengers using the HK Express Intermodal Pass and SkyPier transfer services also remain unchanged, ensuring a seamless connection. Please refer to the details below for more information. (All final arrangements are subject to the latest updates from the Airport Authority Hong Kong.)

Buses

“A-Route” airport buses will make an intermediate stop at the Departures Level of Terminal 2, after stopping at Terminal 1.

 

“E-Route” and “B-Route” buses use different drop-off points. Passengers are strongly advised to check the latest route details with the relevant bus operators before travelling. 

Private cars or taxis

Private cars or taxis drop‑off: 
Private cars and taxis may drop passengers off at the designated departure kerbs on the Departures Level of Terminal 2. From there, passengers can proceed directly to the Terminal 2 departures area via the designated pedestrian crossing.

 

Car parking facilities: 
Car Parks 1, 3 and 4 at Hong Kong International Airport are available for use by private cars. Car Park 3 is directly connected to Terminal 2. Please note that taxis are not allowed to enter these car parks and must use the designated drop‑off areas. Details on parking availability and charges are subject to the airport’s latest announcements.

Airport Express 

For passengers taking the Airport Express to Airport Station:

 

  • From Hong Kong, Kowloon or Tsing Yi Station: 
    After arriving at Airport Station, exit through the doors on the right (facing the direction of travel) and proceed to the Terminal 2 Departures Level.
  • From AsiaWorld‑Expo Station: 
    After arriving at Airport Station, exit through the doors on the left (in the direction of travel) and follow the on‑site signage to the Terminal 2 Departures Level.

HK Express Intermodal Pass  

For passengers using “HK Express Intermodal Pass” services from the Greater Bay Area, both the coach and ferry schedules, as well as transfer arrangements will remain unchanged and will not be affected by this move. 

After arriving at Terminal 2, passengers should proceed to Aisle U to complete check‑in and bag drop. To improve efficiency, this area has been upgraded as a fully self‑service zone.  
 

Please note:

  • Self‑service kiosks (smart check-in kiosks) will close 75 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
  • All check-in services (including bag drop) for every flight will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

    Step 1 – Check‑in: Use the self-service check-in kiosks to scan your passport, then print your boarding pass and baggage tags (if applicable).
    Step 2 – Bag drop (if applicable):  Attach the baggage tag securely to the handle of your bag, then go to the self‑bag drop counters and follow the on‑screen instructions to scan and complete the bag drop process.

  (If you need any assistance, our ground staff are available on site and will be happy to help.)

 

Priority and special assistance counters

If you:

  • have purchased HK Express Priority;
  • are travelling with oversized or special baggage (such as ski equipment or bicycles);
  • are travelling with an infant;
  • require wheelchair assistance; or
  • need other special assistance,

please proceed directly to the dedicated staffed assistance counters at Aisle V, where our team will be ready to assist you. 
 

During the normal operating hours of the Automatic People Mover  

(05:30 – 00:30) ,effective from the opening of Terminal 2:
 

  • Passengers can go through security and immigration at Terminal 2 departures facilities.
  • After clearance, please take the Automatic People Mover from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 (Terminal 1, T1 Satellite Concourse and T1 Midfield Concourse) and follow the signs to your boarding gates.

Tips:

  • Please allow extra time for your journey, including walking and waiting times. As the Automatic People Mover runs on a fixed schedule, you may not be able to board immediately. Please plan ahead to avoid missing your flight.

 

 

 

Late‑night / early‑morning hours (00:31 – 05:29)

 

During this period, the Terminal 2 Departures facilities and the Automatic People Mover will be closed. Passengers must first complete check-in and bag drop at Terminal 2, then follow the signs to walk back to Terminal 1. They should then go through security and immigration at Terminal 1 before proceeding to their boarding gate.

 

  1. From the Terminal 2 Departures Level (7/F), take the escalator / lift down to the Arrivals Level (5/F).
  2. Take the escalator / lift down to the Coach Hall (3/F).  
  3. Walk through the underground connecting corridor to the Terminal 1 Arrivals Hall (5/F).

 

From the Terminal 1 Arrivals Hall (5/F), take the escalator / lift up to the Terminal 1 Departures Level (7/F). Complete security and immigration checks at Terminal 1 departures facilities.  Proceed to your boarding gate.

⚠️ Important note

Please note that all boarding gates close 30 minutes before departure. Due to the longer distance to the boarding gates during the early morning hours, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 2.5 to 3 hours before departure. Passengers travelling with children or elderly companions, those requiring wheelchair assistance, or those with additional baggage should allow extra time to avoid missing their flight.

 

Q: If my flight departs on or after 10 June 2026 , where should I check‑in?

A: The relocation of HK Express’ check‑in and bag drop services will take effect from 04:00 HKT on 10 June 2026. Passengers departing before 04:00 on that day should continue to proceed to Terminal 1, Aisle H for check‑in and bag drop. 

 

Passengers with flights departing at or after 04:00 on 10 June 2026 should proceed to Terminal 2 for check‑in and bag drop. Please note that check‑in and bag drop will open three hours prior to the scheduled departure time of each flight.

 

Q: After the relocation, can I still check in at the HK Express counters at Aisle H of Terminal 1?

A: No. From 4 am on 10 June 2026 (Hong Kong Time), all HK Express counters at Aisle H, Terminal 1 will cease operations. All passengers must proceed to Terminal 2 for check-in and bag drop. Please follow the latest arrangements to avoid any disruption to your journey.

 

Q: Where is the check-in / bag drop area in Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 2 (T2)? 
A: Our check-in and bag drop services at Terminal 2 are located at Aisle U.

 

Passengers with HK Express Priority, those travelling with oversized or special baggage (e.g., skis, bicycles), or infants, or those requiring wheelchair or special assistance should proceed directly to the staffed counters at Aisle V.

 

Q: What are the operating hours for self-service kiosks and staffed counters?

A: For departures from Hong Kong, check-in / bag drop open 3 hours before the scheduled departure time.

 

Please note the following cut-off times to ensure a smooth departure: 

  • Self-service kiosks close: 75 minutes before departure
  • Staffed check-in and bag drop close: 60 minutes before departure
  • Boarding gates close: 30 minutes before departure

To ensure a seamless experience, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight.

Please note: for flights departing Japan before 09:00, check-in operating hours may be shorter. 

 

Q: After checking in, where should I go for security screening and immigration clearance procedures?

A: Your next steps will depend on the time of day:

 

05:30 – 00:15

  • Complete security screening and immigration clearance at Terminal 2 (T2).
  • Take the Automated People Mover (APM)
    • For flights departing from Gates 201–230, please get off at the final stop, Midfield Concourse (T1M).
    • For flights departing from Gates 511–530, please get off at the first stop.

 

00:15 – 05:15

  • Proceed to Terminal 1 (T1) for security screening and immigration clearance.
  • If your boarding gate is between Gates 201–230, please first proceed to the Gates 520–524 area. You may take the shuttle bus to the Midfield Concourse (T1M) for boarding.If your boarding gate is between Gates 511–530, please proceed directly to your gate for boarding.

 

  • Please Note: Walking time from T2 to T1 is approximately 15 minutes.^

Please allow sufficient time when moving between terminals. ^Allow extra time may be required during peak hours.

Q: How do I arrange wheelchair assistance or travel with a wheelchair? 
A: To ensure our team has ample time to assist you, please proceed directly to our dedicated assistance counters at Aisle V, Terminal 2. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. 
 

Q: How can I check in special baggage or sports equipment? 
A: Passengers checking in special baggage or sports equipment should proceed directly to the staffed assistance counters at Aisle V, Terminal 2. To ensure sufficient time to complete the check-in process, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure.

 

Q: What should I note if I am transiting through Hong Kong?

A: For passengers transiting through Hong Kong International Airport, the procedure depends on ticket and baggage arrangements:

  • Baggage checked through: Passengers who already hold an onward boarding pass and have their baggage checked through to the final destination can proceed directly to the boarding gate without clearing immigration.
  • Baggage not checked through: Passengers who need to collect their baggage or obtain an onward boarding pass must clear immigration, collect their bags, and proceed to the check-in counter for their onward flight to complete the required procedures.

Please note: Remaining airside without clearing immigration  is only available for:

  • Connections between HK Express flights under the U-Connect service, where baggage is checked through.
  • HK Express and Cathay Pacific codeshare connections booked on a single ticket, provided all onward boarding passes have been issued and baggage is checked through.
